I recently bought glasses from Romanoff Optical. My LASIK Surgery

I had my Lasik surgery at the end of 1999. I had wanted to have it done for about two years before that but the technology had not yet arrived to "repair" my myopia. When I was in Dr. Romanoff’s office in late 1999, he advised me that I was now eligible for the surgery.

I went to the surgical center full of anticipation and a bit frightened. The idea of first a knife cut followed by a laser being shot into my eyes was not as exciting as the concept of not wearing coke bottle glasses or contacts for the first time since I was 5 years old. When the first procedure was over (we did the eyes a week apart at that time), I was shown to a holding room to let my eye settle down. When an assistant came in 15 minutes later, I read him his name which was embroidered on his shirt. He wasn’t impressed, but I was. That night, I woke up around 3 AM and walked to the window in our bedroom. I opened the drape and looked out. My wife woke and asked if I had heard a noise outside. I replied that there was no noise but I could see trees in the yard. And bushes. And flowers. And grass. Before the surgery, I could not even see the trees.

It is now over 6 years later and I still wonder at the 10 minute procedure that changed my life. It took a little time, a little more courage, even more money, but it was oh so worth it. No more multiple sets of glasses, contacts with backup pairs, solutions to carry, and occasional discomfort. If you are even considering doing LASIK, DO IT.
